Editing & Proofreading Services

Here at HWS we offer a variety of proofreading and editing services and have experience of editing and authoring fiction, non-fiction and games, such as tabletop roleplay.

Proofreading & Copy Editing - This is where we correct spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors in your work. This costs £6 per 1000 words. 

Line Editing - This includes proofreading and copy editing, but also issues of voice, plot, style and characterisation. While we will make suggestions about how the work can be improved, we do not intend to rewrite large sections of it. This costs £12 per 1000 words.

Our Editors:

Dr Allen Stroud - is a lecturer and Chair of the British Science Fiction Association. He has work published as novels, short stories and in computer games. He wrote The Historical Dictionary of Fantasy Literature (2023) for Rowman and Littlefield and his Fractal series novels are published by Flame Tree Press. Stroud has taught creative writing for twenty years and edited novels, short stories, roleplaying games and a variety of different non-fiction works. He works in all genres and is prepared to discuss all formats.  He was the lead editor on Solemn Vale (2024), the roleplaying game from Dirty Vortex.
 

Karen Fishwick - has reviewed books for the British Fantasy Society Journal, SF Books and Concatenation.org as well as this website. She has editing credits on a variety of tabletop role play games including Revolutionaries (2018) and I am Zombie (2016) from Make Believe Games and Solemn Vale (2024), from Dirty Vortex. . She primarily does proofreading and copy editing.
